A Tribute to Our Founder, Enrique “Rick” Garcia
Loyal, sophisticated, charming and dedicated are all qualities that Rick Garcia possessed and exuded in his salon, staff and clientele.
Rick had an impressive background in the hair industry prior to opening his own salon over 20 years ago. Rick worked at a number of New York City salons and was a freelance stylist for numerous magazine shoots, film productions and television commercials. He also served as the style director for the famous Paul Mitchell Superhair Salon. A resume most hairdressers would dream of.
Rick brought his knowledge and creativity not only behind the chair, but to his salon. He created the perfect blend of relaxation and comfort to a non-intimidating and inviting atmosphere. A trademark of true sophistication.
As our founder, our boss and our friend, Rick will truly be missed. In his honor, we carry on his legacy to do great work and to be as loyal, sophisticated, charming and dedicated as he was.
Rick’s oldest son, Justan Garcia, has stepped up to lead the brilliant and constantly evolving team of stylists of Rick Garcia Salon. He lovingly admits, “This was my first job at 8 years old. I swept floors and folded towels thinking that one day I’d do hair just like my dad.”
As fate would have it, Justan does everything except hair. After completing high school, Justan began his post-graduate education in Cambridge, England at the Cambridge School of Art and Design. He returned to the U.S. and attended the Tisch School at NYU before enrolling at Emerson College in Boston, MA. where he studied and received numerous awards for his various media productions including short films and music videos. Since graduating in 2007, he has been a freelance media and creative consultant for multiple start-up companies and independent productions. During this time, Justan also worked as a coordinator for Rick Garcia Salon overseeing all day-to-day operations.
Justan has been the owner and full-time manager since 2011.
